About MyRETAC:
MyRETAC [My-Regulated-Tenants-Association-Consultant] is an Online Information Service which breaks down the Rent Laws of NYC & State into a consumable format for the benefit of over 800,000 regulated tenants across NYC. Our Service Format is a Questions-&-Answers Forum which is interactive and displays all possible questions Regulated Tenants might have, reflecting scenarios that tenants face over the course of the tenancy. Answers are provided by retired Rent Program Specialists each with over 30 years of Rent Regulation processing experience at DHCR. Subscribers are encouraged to post specific questions of issues they face. The questions and MyRETAC answers are displayed in the forum for the benefit & information of other subscribers [old & new]. |
Mission:
The NYC Rent Laws as interpreted by DHCR in the Operational Bulletins & Fact Sheets remain public information. But the ordinary tenant who moved into a regulated apartment in NYC is not aware of all that stuff, except for what is stated in ‘the Fine Prints Section’ of the lease [which is not much].
Essentially, most NYC regulated tenants are blind to the Rent Laws and DHCR Operations designed to protect their rights under the law – leaving them completely vulnerable to abuse, overcharge, and downright harassment.
MyRETAC therefore is designed such that any subscriber, after spending just half an hour in MyRETAC, becomes aware of the many facets of their tenancy which are protected under the law, and how & where to seek relief.
MyRETAC is dedicated to delivering the A-B-C of Rent Regulation in our Plata of ‘Questions-&-Answers - simplified enough for any subscriber to understand and instantly become an ‘informed tenant’.

The basic subscription in MyRETAC gives a subscriber full access to our Information Plata of continuous ‘Questions-&-Answers’ page designed to inform you on everything you need to know about your Regulated Tenancy.

Consultancy Service:
MyRETAC offers ‘specific case Consultancy Service’ - a step-by-step processing guide on specific cases at DHCR. Your Consultant [a Rent Program Specialist] will guide you in filing a complaint at DHCR; in the processing of your complaint; and if need be, refer you to Free Legal Aid for proper lawyer representation.
This is an online service. The Consultant can only assist you in preparing the case & argument for you to present to the Legal Aid office nearest you, and obtain live-free-legal representation.
